People's arms embargo
An arms embargo built from below by workers, unions, and communities at the points weapons pass through, rather than waiting for governments to act.
A people's arms embargo is the demand at the center of Break the Chain. Where a conventional arms embargo is imposed by a government or the United Nations, a people's arms embargo is built from below: by the workers, unions, and communities who can stop weapons shipments at the airports, ports, and warehouses those shipments pass through.
The framing reflects a labor strategy. The same chokepoints that make a region a hub for military logistics also make it a place where organized refusal to handle the cargo can interrupt the supply chain. The demand is directed at corporate contracts and the movement of the cargo, not at individual workers, and it sits alongside calls for governments to end the licenses and transfers in the first place.
